Guiding students in understanding how they do, how they can, and why they should want to make a difference on their college campus and in their community. Through student groups, campus events and responding to the world around us, a lot goes on at The College at Brockport. Even students who are already involved often want to feel like they’re making an impact. How can we tell if we are making a difference? How can we make a difference if we’re just one person? How do we understand all the difference that is being made and our roles in that?

GOAL/OUTCOME #1 Create an environment where students ask how and why they can and should get engaged on campus.

GOAL/OUTCOME #2 Identify where students are in their involvement and on their path to making a difference.

GOAL/OUTCOME #3 Highlight available resources, groups, and opportunities to make a difference.

Presenter(s)

Thomas Chew, Director, Academic Success Center, The College at Brockport Thomas Chew has spent his career engaging students in leadership and learning development. Through both individual advising and counseling and broad programmatic endeavors, he believes that all students have the capacity to succeed and develop a culture of success that is focused on community, personal development, ally-ship, honesty and advancing ones learning and understanding of the world.
