How Effective is the Quantitative Easing and Who is Benefitting?

Stefan Nonnenmann

Description

There has been a lot of talk about the Federal Reserve and its implemented monetary policies (quantitative easing). Three waves of quantitative easing (QE) were introduced and each of them had different effects on the economy. This presentation focuses on the third and still on-going QE wave, and it examines this wave's effects on the economy, specifically who benefits from this monetary policy and if it is improving the economy. With the Federal Reserve's QE3 buyback reduced from $85 billion per month to $65 billion per month, it is unclear if this enormous buyback will benefit the economy. Last, this presentation willidentify other options the Federal Reserve could pursue to be more effective than the currently monetary policy in place.
