Description

The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) is New York State legislation intended to create safe and supportive school environments by eliminating harassment, discrimination, and bullying. This new legislation delineates a number of specific requirements for schools, including expectations for teachers. This study provides some of the first research to evaluate DASA post-implementation. The specific research question addresses how well teachers are implementing DASA. The researcher surveyed a sample of 6th through 12th grade teachers from a small school district in Western New York. Descriptive and inferential statistics will be used. In addition, a discussion of the meaning of the results, shortcomings of the study, and suggestions for the specific school district will be outlined.
