The Sokol High School Literary Awards are an annual creative writing contest for high school students in grades nine through twelve sponsored by the Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library since 1958. Prizes are awarded in the categories of poetry, prose and performance and are funded by an endowment given in 1985 by Mr. & Mrs. Eli Sokol. Through the Sokols’ foresight and generosity, the Friends & Foundation will be able to encourage young writers for generations to come.
