Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the managerial skills employed by Ghanaian physical education teachers focusing on the senior secondary school level to determine the time for management of the lessons. The instrument used in collecting the data was the University College of Education of Winneba Instrument for Collecting Managerial Data (UCEW-ICOMAD) adapted from existing instruments by Siedentop and Siedentop and Rife. The subjects for the study comprised eleven senior secondary school teachers from Winneba and Tamale and their students. Thirty-six lessons were observed and analyzed using percentages and mean scores.

The results indicated that the mean managerial time for all the observations was 22%, a figure that confirms previous research findings.
