Abstract

CMST (Computational Math, Science, and Technology) has emerged as a new pegagogy for teaching mathematics and science at the pre-college level through the use of simulation and modeling tools to illustrate mathematical and scientific concepts in an engaging and nonthreatening manner. This proposal seeks to provide prospective teachers a track in which to learn these tools and simulation and modeling concepts. The track consists of 12 credits of core courses dealing with CMST tools and pedagogy, 6 credits of culminating research experience, and 12 credits of electives related to students’ teaching interests or area of initial certification.
